Police in Carrollton, Texas, helped save a dog that somehow was suffering from a h.eroin o.verdose. The Carollton Police Department posted on Facebook the g.ruesome details of what happened to this poor Chihuahua. “A shift patrol officer found the puppy suffering from a drug o.verdose Saturday,” the Facebook post wrote. “Pup was left in the floorboard of a truck in the Home Depot parking lot while its humans were busy inside switching price tags.”
The post also noted that the horrible people who did this were arrested for h.eroin possession, and for fraudulent destruction, removal or concealment of writing. The dog, now being called Lucky, was treated by Dr. Stacie Fowler and the staff at the North Texas Emergency Pet Clinic and has happily made a full recovery. “Puppy is on [its] way to full recovery from opiate o.verdose and is back in the care of The City of Carrollton Animal Adoption Center.”

No one, including the police, has any idea why or how this puppy was given h.eroin, but as soon the story went viral and people heard about Lucky’s story, the City of Carrollton Animal Adoption Center got FLOODED with adoption requests. The police department’s public information officer told People.com that adoption requests for Lucky have come from as far away as California and New Hampshire. Three weeks later, Lucky was adopted by this adorable little girl and her family. The shelter said on Facebook that another man came to pick up Lucky, but once he saw the look in that little girl’s eyes, he let her to take Lucky home. This story has restored my faith in people, and I am so happy Lucky is back in great hands!
