Maria, a Dachshund, was paralyzed from her hips down, but that didn’t stop her heartless owners from forcibly using her for breeding. So, when they realized that a $3000 C-section would be needed for her next delivery, they abandoned her in an instant.

Thankfully, Friends of Emma, a rescue organization, found the terrified Maria, and decided to help her give birth. At the vets, she was found to be severely anemic, covered in fleas and infections. Seeing Maria drag her heavily pregnant body through the grass was just too heartbreaking.
When Maria finally gave birth, everyone was in awe to see seven healthy pups. That’s way more than the average size of a Dachshund litter! With therapy and care in the shelter, Maria was slowly able to get back on her feet. Watching her now, as she jumps and plays with her pups, has given us a new ray of hope!

Update: We have come to know that Maria, and all of her seven puppies, have found the most loving forever homes. What a beautiful happy ending for them!
