Maria’s life had been anything but easy. In fact, she had known nothing but neglect and abandonment.
To make matters worse, she became paralyzed from her ribs down, due to her previous owner’s failure to properly care for her. Instead of getting her the medical help she so desperately needed, her owner put her in even more danger.

They bred her and she became pregnant, which was too much for poor Maria to handle. Since she was paralyzed, she needed to have a C-section, but her owners refused to pay for one.
To add insult to injury, they then abandoned Maria, rather than seeking helpful her. But thankfully, she landed with Friends of Emma Medical Rescue, who played a huge part in saving her life.

They brought her to the vet to be examined, where she was diagnosed with anemia due to a severe flea infestation. She was treated for her ailments, and now it was time to wait for her puppies to be ready to come into the world.
Maria wound up giving birth to seven healthy puppies, whom have all since been adopted! Maria would be put up for adoption also, but first the rescue wanted to put her through rehab and therapy.

After working with her every day for several months, Maria began walking on her own!
Maria, who was once neglected and unwanted, is now a healthy, happy doggy living in her new forever home!
