Dani Viverito has been a dog person since she was a kid, and she’d always bring them home if she found a stray or injured dog on the street. Her love and compassion for dogs carried over into adulthood in a big way as she and her husband now have seven rescues!
Any dog they’d find in need, they’d bring them in to provide the very best life. The couple gradually became rescuers over their 18-and-a-half year relationship and have had nearly just as many rescue dogs during that time!
A lot of different dogs with different backgrounds and stories live under the one roof, so they laid out a strict schedule for all to follow to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible and to make sure no one is ever left out.
All of the dogs get along, but two of them are a bit more unstable than the rest. So Mom has the group of five on one schedule with the other group of two on another, and she swaps them out every three hours. This ensures all seven dogs have equal time to eat, play, snuggle, and potty. ?
And when nap time comes, the dogs know exactly where to go because they all have designated bedrooms containing their own individual beds! When Dani calls out “cookie time,” that’s their cue. The toddler beds are the perfect size for the dogs!
“Jax, Sasha and Annabelle are in one room and Muppet is in the other with Harlin. When Tyler and Tucker are down they each have their own room,” Dani told The Dodo.
Dani got the idea to buy each dog their own bed because she used to have a few queen-sized mattresses for their dogs who had trouble getting up onto couches and beds. But those mattresses were hard to move around and clean, so she switched to the smaller, individual mattresses.
With the toddler beds, she can also wash all the sheets at once and the comforters two at a time. It’s also easier to sweep, vacuum, and mop around them.
It’s not easy living in a home with seven rescues, and it’s a ton of work, but it’s a totally worth it and very rewarding for this couple. Dani and her husband wouldn’t trade this lifestyle for anything.
