It is said that monsters often lurk in the dark, but in this case, a monster was caught on video in broad daylight. Someone stole a special needs service dog from a child with autism in the Detroit area and police need your help in apprehending the suspect.

The theft of the four-month-old dog, a Pit Bull mix named Cobra, happened as the child, named Christian, was getting off the school bus. The entire ordeal was captured on a home surveillance system.

“He was getting off the bus and he noticed a young man taking his dog out of the yard,” Dozier said to 7 Action News. “He tapped the young man and let him know that was his dog.”

Surveillance footage shows Christian chase after the suspect, who claims it is a different dog. Once Christian sees his dog’s house is empty, he knows the guy was lying.

Although the suspect seemed like he was going to return the dog, he was accompanied by a woman and they took off together.

All the child wants is his dog back. His dad says he asks for him every day, as Cobra is Christian’s emotional support animal.  A cash reward is up for grabs from Dozier to anyone who can bring Cobra home. Contact the Detroit Police Department with information.
