Being dumped at a high kill shelter is often a death sentence. The animals don’t have very long to find their forever family before they are put to sleep. Many organizations try their best to save these animals but it’s a race against the clock. Shelter volunteers help out as well by posting photos and videos to social media. Anything they can do to give these deserving pets a chance at a real life.

Gonner arrived at The Carson Animal Shelter at just a year old. The race was on for him to find his forever family and it wouldn’t be easy. Sadly, so much has happened to this poor pup in his first year of life. The human who had sworn to care for him forever, gave him up. All because he claimed he “wasn’t friendly enough.”

Now Gonner waits alone, in a cage, crying constantly for someone to take him home. It is heartbreaking. Shelter workers claim that he cries himself to sleep every night.

The shelter wrote:

“GONNER is big and beautiful and his family left him at the shelter because he wasn’t friendly enough. He has that collar over his face, and you can see it’s raw underneath and if you give him a cookie he is extremely gentle and sweet. He needs help fast, he’s in the back with no Kennel Card! He will need someone with experience and someone to give him training.”

Gonner’s Pet Harbor listing read: “My name is Gonner and I am described as a neutered male, blue merle Great Dane. The shelter thinks I am about 1 year and 1 month old. I have been at the shelter since Apr 10, 2017.”

Gonner has been adopted! WHOOO HOOOOO! Thanks to all the shares and big hearts, Gonner found his forever family! Adopt, Don’t Shop!
