An abandoned dog in Suwałki, Poland, was looking for a warm place to rest when he came upon freshly dumped tar. Not knowing that the sticky tar would trap him, the tired dog laid down. Once he realized he needed help, he started to bark.
The little dog used all his strength to bark relentlessly until help arrived. Workers nearby heard his barks and came to investigate. They found him stuck in tar and in desperate need of rescue. They immediately contacted animal rescuer, Joanna Godlewska, from the Niczyje Animal Foundation.

She arrived at the scene and teared up as she looked at the trapped dog. Thankfully, the dog was able to tear his snout out of the tar, so he could breathe and bark for help. With assistance from the local fire and police departments, they slowly cut away the dog’s fur that was trapped in tar. To gently remove his body from the tar, the rescuers used oil to counteract the sticky substance.

Rescuers worked diligently to remove the tar and were finally able to free the dog. He was brought to a vet clinic to be treated for exhaustion and for a complete examination. Nearly 100 ticks were found and removed from his body.

After receiving multiple baths to remove the remaining tar from his paws and fur, he was offered a warm meal and soft bed to sleep in. It is unclear how long he was trapped, but he was so happy to be free. The resilient dog started to regain strength and was treated for minor wounds on his head.

The sweet boy was named Farcik, but also called “Luck”, by his rescuers. Godlewska is slowly starting to walk with him and discovering that he had a hard life until now. He is being showered with love and all the care he needs. “Farcik is resting. He regains strength and above all faith in man,” posted Niczyje Animal Foundation.

Once he has completely recovered, he will be put up for adoption. For now, he is spending his days under the care of a vet and at night going home with one of the rescue’s volunteers. He will never have to wonder if he will eat or where he will sleep, because he is surrounded by people who love him. Not to mention, the thousands of people across the world that are rallying for his recovery and a loving forever home.
