While so many aspects of this story are upsetting, the one clear truth is: This may just be the happiest of endings we have ever seen!
Anna came to the rescue center when she was discovered tied to a pole. She was suffering from leishmaniasis. She was also skinny and afraid. Instead of her owner taking the time to treat her, he felt it was more appropriate to leave her behind. Maybe that was actually the best thing for her since he clearly didn’t deserve her.

Viktor Larkhill and his medical staff didn’t waste time. While parts of the video below are heartbreaking, we promise it turns around QUICKLY! Anna is immediately treated by loving hands. It’s amazing how quickly the volunteers become invested in her care and wellbeing but then again, for dog lovers like us, it all makes perfect sense. As she recovers, the best part is waiting just around the corner. Her new dad!
You can plainly see how much this man adores Anna! They go on beach adventures often. Just look at how Anna smiles!

Then when it is time to call it a day, Anna’s dad holds her close. She knows she is safe, she knows she is loved, she knows that her old life is something she left behind for good! Watch as her eyes close while in her father’s arms. She feels so safe!
